In keeping with the purpose of building a better community and serving the children of the world, the Club has always had an interest
in facilitating the education of the children residing in the La Grange area. Through the generosity of R. Kent Schneider, a
long time member of the Club, Vernon H. Timke, who was not a Kiwanian, and Richard Powers, a member of the Club, and his wife, Bernice
Powers, three significant scholarship endowment funds have been created and managed by the Charity Board.
R. Kent Schneider Scholarship -
These scholarships are awarded to students entering the College of Du Page (a two year community college). The award is for
up to $4,000 for each of the two years at the college.
Richard and Bernice Powers Scholarship - These scholarships are awarded
to students entering the College of Du Page in its English Language Learning program. Again, the award is for up to $4,000 for
each of the years at the college.
Vernon H. Timke Scholarship - These scholarships are awarded to students entering a four year
undergraduate college or university. The award is for up to $5,000 for each of the four years at the college or university.
