One of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken by the Club was the creation of Kiwanis Park located at the corner of Elm and La
Grange Road in La Grange. As early as 1927, the Club had dreams of creating a park. Not until 1976 did that dream become
a reality.
In 1975, the Club formulated a plan for the purchase of vacant land at the corner of Elm Street and La Grange Road
and to turn it into a beautiful and peaceful park. Through funds donated by members, the land was purchased and the transformation
of the land was completed.
Since 1976, the Charity Board has manged a Park Endowment Fund to provide funds to maintain Kiwanis
Park. This Fund was started by donations from members.
Each year, the Charity Board purchases over 2000 plants for Kiwanis
park and the members and others plant them in nine flower beds.
Some photos of Kiwanis Park may be seen on the Kiwanis
Park Photos page.
